About Me

Hi, my name is Haze and I run Access To Yoga with the aim of making yoga accessible for everyone.

After practicing yoga myself for several years and having witnessed the physical and mental benefits, I decided to embark on a teacher training course myself. I received my 200 hours of training from the internationally renowned yoga teacher, Bridget Woods Kramer, at Triyoga in London.

I learnt from Bridget’s teaching to apply safe alignment principles whilst having fun and not taking ourselves too seriously. My classes follow those principles.

Whilst training I was offered the opportunity to teach a small, weekly yoga class at Cowan House Consulting & Lifestyle Centre. The practical teaching experience this gave me was invaluable, and, to this day I feel so privileged and thankful for both the opportunity and responsibility that was entrusted in me.

I feel so passionate about sharing my enthusiasm for yoga. With all the positive feedback I’ve received from my clients, particularly those who had relief from pain as a result of attending my classes, I was motivated to set up my own small studio – a place where I can teach beginners privately or in small groups of up to three people, nurturing them until they feel confident enough to join a class. Ultimately, my aim is to encourage as many people as possible to join a yoga class and feel the benefits for themselves.

Although yoga teacher training covers elements of managing pregnant women in class, I felt that I wanted to do a dedicated pregnancy yoga training so that I could offer these specialized classes locally. Firstly, I did advanced training with Bridget. I then completed a full pre-natal and advanced post-natal yoga course with a wonderful teacher, Sally Parkes Yoga and continue to receive updates so that I can keep abreast of any changes or developments which can help my students. I have the added benefit of meeting some lovely mums and their babies following the birth.

I became aware that there were a number of people who really wanted to try yoga but they felt that general yoga classes may be a bit too challenging for them. I developed my Gentle Yoga classes to meet the needs of these people. Many have since transitioned to do stronger poses – which is great news.

I am really passionate about teaching seniors – I’m guessing this comes from working for Alzheimer’s Society for 24 years. I now dedicate myself full-time to teaching yoga but will never forget the years spent working as Services Manager for this great charity. As a result, early 2020 I started teaching Chair-based yoga classes. These classes mainly appeal to the senior generation but it has been great to welcome one or two younger people recovering from knee operations or with other conditions. I studied with Sherry Zak-Morris from Yoga Vista Academy.

Senior Stretch is a new class being added to my offerings: this will appeal to seniors who love to stretch and can easily get up and down from the floor as we work mainly on the floor on a mat with the addition of some free-standing positions.

Due to Covid19 my classes were offered on Zoom, which was a very new concept at the time.  However, the clients who attend have chosen to remain on Zoom.  These are smaller classes of up to 10-12 people which particularly appeal to those who do not wish to join a larger class for whatever reason.  Hatha and Gentle Yoga and one chair-based class are all on Zoom permanently now.  Benefits have been stated by clients to include saving travel & parking.

Live classes are still available for Pregnancy and Chair-based Yoga classes.

I would like to offer grateful thanks to Bridget, Sally & Sherry for being such wonderful teachers and encouraging me to continue my yoga journey. Like most yoga teachers, I am always studying more aspects of yoga including wheelchair yoga!. There is always so much to learn both from yoga schools and from our clients. I’m blessed to have such lovely clients and I look forward to meeting more of you along my journey.
